Victor Wembanyama delivered yet another incredible performance on Friday night as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Denver Nuggets. Wembanyama told reporters why this victory meant a lot after it happened, beaming with joy.
Wembanyama responded, “It just makes every win feel even more special,” when asked how the Spurs have managed to find happiness despite all of their losses. It’s significant to us as a young, developing team. These kinds of victories will be necessary in the future.”
Wembanyama also mentioned that, although it obviously doesn’t matter much, this victory moved them ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers in the standings. This is just one of the small things that Wembanyama believes are crucial for a developing team.
After the game, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone acknowledged to reporters that it was a difficult defeat, stating, according to Raul Dominguez of the AP, “Yeah, it’s disappointing.” Really disappointing, I must say. We were in charge of our own fate, and we simply returned the accomplishments we made on Wednesday night. Do you understand what I mean? Thus, it’s simple to embrace Minnesota. Our guys were incredibly focused, locked in, and serious. Although I don’t think we took the same strategy into tonight’s game, you had a chance to go as high as the one seed, and we will most likely finish as the third seed overall.
