Despite the controversy surrounding Neil Gaiman, The Sandman is full steam ahead for its second season on Netflix.
After an impressive debut season, The Sandman is set to return, and this time, the Lord of Dreams won’t be alone. While Season 1 primarily focused on Morpheus, with Death and Desire making brief but memorable appearances, the upcoming season promises to dive deeper into the family dynamics of the Endless, says showrunner Allan Heinberg.
In a new behind-the-scenes video released during Netflix’s Geeked Week, fans got a sneak peek at the second season. The footage teases plenty of twists and turns—new characters, new subplots, and a fragile world that Morpheus is still working to stabilize. As the boundaries of this recreated realm remain unclear, Dream will need help to fend off the threats brewing in the background.
Thor Joins the Chaos
It’s not just Morpheus’ siblings who will play a larger role this season. The teaser also gave a glimpse of Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Freddie Fox as Loki, and Clive Russell as Odin. Other divine beings are set to make their entrance, potentially upsetting the already delicate balance of the Immortals. Neil Gaiman’s universe is vast, and Netflix seems eager to explore its many storylines and complex mythology.
One scene, in particular, has everyone talking. “I can’t wait for the audience to see the banquet Dream throws for all the gods, fairies, and seasonal spirits,” Allan Heinberg shares. A Family Affair
Season 2 will also explore the complicated relationships between Morpheus and his siblings, specifically unraveling the darker motives of Desire and Despair. Fans have been left wondering about the absence of Delirium, one of the key mysteries from the first season, and it seems we may finally get some answers. “One of the most exciting things about this season is, for the first time, bringing all of the Endless siblings together in one room and seeing this extraordinary family coexist on screen,” says Tom Sturridge, who plays Morpheus.
