On Wednesday morning, Gavin Meyer, who entered the transfer portal at the beginning of the month intending to leave Wyoming, announced his decision to join the Trojans. This is a significant addition to USC football, which is currently undergoing a major defensive rebuild.
The 6’4″, 282-pound nose tackle shared his decision on X, posting a black and white photo of himself in a USC jersey holding Tommy Trojan’s sword. The post was captioned with defensive line coach Eric Henderson’s coaching philosophy, #DAWGWORK.

Henderson was hired not only for his NFL-level expertise as a defensive line coach but also for his enthusiasm for recruiting players. His efforts have paid off, as he now ranks #2 for his 2025 recruiting class.
Meyer made a significant impact in 2022, recording 40 tackles, including five for loss, four sacks, and a forced fumble. In 2023, he transitioned to a specialized rotational pass rush role, achieving the third-highest number of quarterback pressures on the defense despite playing the 14th most snaps.
