Watford face Sunderland on Saturday afternoon as they look to end their run of three league games without a win.
Watford have had a good start to this season, sitting just outside of the play-offs in 8th place. However, Tom Cleverley’s side have only picked up one point in their last three games.
It is Cleverley’s first permanent head coach role and he is doing a good job so far, but he will be looking to end this winless run sooner rather than later.
Watford were very impressive in midweek as they lost 2-1 away to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup. The Hornets felt aggrieved in the first half to have a Kwadwo Baah goal disallowed, one which possibly could have changed the game.
Watford team news
Cleverley gave an update on his Watford squad’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s game.
Last weekend at Norwich City, both Daniel Bachmann and Francisco Sierralta went off with knocks and both will miss the weekend’s game. Cleverley said that Bachmann’s scans were positive and he would be back after the international break.
Edo Kayembe missed the Carrow Road trip but returns to his squad this weekend, whereas Ryan Andrews, who missed the midweek trip to Manchester City, is a doubt.
Summer signing Daniel Jebbison also returns after being cup-tied in midweek but Jeremy Ngakia and Kevin Keben are still unavailable.
Predicted XI
(3-4-3)
Bond; Pollock, Porteous, Morris; Andrews, Dele-Bashiru, Sissoko, Sema; Baah, Chakvetadze, Bayo.
Four changes from their last league game, two of which forced due to Bachmann and Sierralta’s injuries.
Jonathan Bond will come in as goalkeeper while Ryan Porteous enters the centre of the Watford backline.
Other changes could see Vakoun Bayo come in for loanee Daniel Jebbison and Kwadwo Baah retain his place from the league cup tie. Baah impressed from the start and may come in over Rocco Vata, who will drop to the bench.
Edo Kayembe may come back on that right hand side but with questions over his fitness, Baah will likely keep him out.
