Seven players, including midfield duo George Dobson and Ollie Rathbone, joined Wrexham ahead of the League One campaign which began with a 3-2 home win against Wycombe Wanderers last Saturday.
The Reds followed it up by losing 4-2 at Championship outfit Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup first round on Tuesday when Parkinson made 10 changes to the starting line-up.
Not short of options and with some players set to depart The Racecourse because clubs in the third tier are limited to a 22-man squad – not including goalkeepers or players who were under the age of 21 at the start of the calendar year – Parkinson is still on the look-out for reinforcements ahead of the window closing on August 30 and he has identified targets
“I don’t think we are a million miles off in terms of the numbers where we want to be,” said Parkinson.
“Obviously we are always looking if we can add a player or two of quality.
“We know the players we would like; we will keep trying to get the player or players in and if we do, great.
“If not, we have got a strong squad and we will go with what we’ve got.”
Wrexham are backed by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney but Parkinson insists he won’t be held to ransom.
“When we target a player, we decide on where we feel that valuation is and more often than not we stick to it,” added the Reds’ boss.
“That’s what we will continue to do.”
