Michael Beale’s appointment to the Rangers is explained by his old boss
Some suggested that Beale ought to be given the opportunity to take the reins when Steven Gerrard left for Aston Villa.
Rumors of dissatisfaction between the management team and the board persisted, and he followed Gerrard to the Premier League out of loyalty.
But after coming back only a year and a half later, he didn’t have to wait long for his chance.
There was some controversy around Michael Beale’s return to the Rangers.
Some people took offense with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s presence at Ibrox while he was under duress, and his director at QPR wasn’t pleased either.
Beale’s tenure at Loftus Road was short-lived, as Les Ferdinand noted in an interview with the Stick to Football podcast:
Yes, that was disheartening since he had led us to the top of the league and the boys were under his total control.
“Michael Beale appeared out of nowhere; he was being discussed as a coach.”
Although he had never been the best, we nevertheless considered that he kind of met the criterion after looking at him and considering the criteria.
“I always said that he would be a top manager somewhere, even though I know he’s had a few questionable spells at Rangers and Sunderland.”
Beale’s commitment to Ferdinand and QPR was sworn before he returned to the Rangers, but it was evident that he had an itch that needed to be scratched.
In reference to the early offer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ferdinand remarked, “I said to the owners, if we are going to lose Michael Beale, I don’t think it’ll be just now, it’ll be in a year or two to Rangers.”
Beale has to step away from the game for a while and consider the errors he has made.
In retrospect, Ferdinand feels he ought to have stayed at QPR longer.
Prior to running and all that, you should walk.
