Aji Alese, a defender for Sunderland, just inked a new deal with the team and expressed his excitement to resume playing.

Due to difficulties with injuries, the 23-year-old defender has only made three appearances for the first team this season. However, he may be available following this month’s international break. Alese signed a contract with Wearside that was supposed to conclude in 2025, but the West Ham product, who moved to Wearside in 2022, decided to stay until 2027.

Alese expressed his happiness to sign a new contract with the club on their website. “I have had some fantastic experiences thus far, and I can continue to learn from and develop from them. I could feel the warmth of the fans as soon as I joined, and I can not wait to play in front of them again.

“His injuries has made the past 12 months difficult for him, but he will soon be able to resume his activities, and his positive outlook has allowed him to be involved with the team during his recovery. We are happy to ensure Aji’s long-term future because we have big expectations for him and he shares our ambitions.

This season, Sunderland has eight Championship games left, beginning on Friday, March 29 when they travel to Cardiff.
